Final Statistics

OK, if anybody actually cares, here is our final entry...
Sorry it has taken me so long to get to this. I had to go boating on Monday :) (I "had to") and as some of you may not know, we do not have high speed internet so if I had to do this from home it would have be easier to call each of you on the phone! So here goes...

Total Days: 29
Total States: 25 (counting CA)
Total Miles: 8,478
Longest Day: 721 miles (Clayton to Salt Lake City)
Most States in a day: 6
Total Gallons of Gas: 531
Average Price of Gas: $4.09/gal.
Total Sprained Ankles: 2
Total Illnesses: 1 minor
Total Disagreements lasting longer than 5 minutes: 0
Total Weight Gained: none of your business!
Would we do it again? Absolutely!!!!
Here are some pictures that I don't think we posted yet.

Welcome to California sign!!

This is the place where Fenner was. It's the area where the military did desert training for WWII. I think I like Fenner NY better.

We visited the Ancient Man Dig Site in Calico CA. (I don't know who these strange people are.)

The original pit. I think they still are digging in it but this is probably where my grandmother worked.

Calico was a silver mining town in the late 1800's. Mr. Knotts (of Knotts Berry Farms fame) bought it and restored it. It now belongs to the county. It was fun to look around and enjoy the "dry" heat.

One of the many fires burning in California.

Here are some misc. pictures in no particular order...

The best little rest stop in Texas. Actually it isn't small at all. It has a museum and tornado shelter inside.

Tom "enjoying" a cigar. YUK! He stunk the rest of the day.

It is a little hard to tell what she is doing, she's washing the windshield!

Goats came over on the Mayflower. That makes this one over 400 years old!

I'm not sure if we were happier to see Jim or Hawk.

All the kids kept a journal of the trip. Not my idea they did it for fun. What wonderful homeschool examples!

Two tone mountain.

One of Jim's new toys.

We started to run out of ways to sit in the car.

I don't think I mentioned that Andrew hopped on his skateboard pretty much everytime we stopped.

That's about all. Thanks for reading. I would encourage everyone to expore our big and beautiful country. It's really quite a place!!

Love you all,

Mama Fenner

Thanks for this review. I am hoping that you will continue to communicate with us in this way. You know how the kids grow up more each time I see them. By the way, Winnie has been missing for 3 days and I don't know where the heck he has gone. If you see him, tell him that I have Chicken and Rice waiting.
We have de-haired our house, but one or two hairs still appear in the most unusual places.
I enjoyed the pictures, all of them. The ones of Calico were interesting to see. GeeGee climbed up that hill every day. Today I told her that you had some pictures and she thought that was nice.
Mr. Knox used to be named Mr. Knotts. Guess he changed his name after he died. They sound pretty much the same, however.
We are really glad you are home and we can keep tabs on you better. Thank you so much for the wonderful blogs. What a privilege to be a part of your trip. Isn't it nice to have wonderful kids? You and we are truly blessed.
See ya soon. Love always,
GaGa

I enjoyed all your posts! I do hope to see more of the country someday. I have never been further east than Colorado. I would love to see the rest of our great America! Ciao!

Great recap. Your stats and final pictures were great to look at. I've enjoyed every bit of your blog. Your information, pix and sense of humor kept me wanting more.

Hope to be part of your future travels.

Much love,

Lauren, It has been so much fun following your adventures through yours and Jenn's FB and blogs. We had visited some of the places you stopped on our trip a couple of years ago, but you went further south and longer. *Those memories will be with you for years to come. What a blessing to have your whole family experience it together. *By the way, gas is cheaper here for a change. *Since Andrew had his skateboard, he was probably not the one who added weight. *Was your grandmother an archeologist at Calico, CA? *Glad that Tom is feeling better. Good thing you had a nurse along.
