Day 1

So here we are, day 1 of our road trip! We spent 12 hours in the car, and I am now writing from Salt Lake City! Which, by the way, smells really bad. I always assumed that the Salt Lake only contained salt, but considering the horrible sewage smell, I'm beginning to wonder.

So here's a little about how our day went:
It started out with a cup of McDonalds coffee being spilled all over my (Jenn's) leg... before we even left Concord. So I've had a coffee stained pantleg for the whole day. But thanks to the quick-thinking actions of my mother (and a bottle of cold water) I did not suffer from third degree burns.

We finally got out of Concord, and eventually made it to Nevada. We just couldn't resist stopping at Cabela's in Reno. We ate buffalo burgers and bison brats there (Mmmm!), and then we bought a splint (they have a few cool wilderness medicine things), wool socks, and fudge. Cabela's makes my FAVORITE fudge EVER, called Tiger milk. I'm pretty sure it's not actually made from the milk of tigers, but it would be cool if it was. It's the best ever. Seriously. It's amazing. Did I mention that it's really good?

We then drove across the state of Nevada... which all looks the same. We stopped in Lovelock. Andrew really loves Lovelock.

Eventually we made it to Utah, and Salt Lake City. The salt flats are really cool, although we never got a chance to taste the dirt and see if it actually tastes like salt. I'm willing to bet that it does.

After a little driving around, we finally found a hotel, and that's where we are now. Tomorrow we're getting up at 5:30am for another looooong day of driving, so I should probably bring this to an end and try to get some sleep!

i'm just glad that you decided against tasting the dirt. probably would have ended up being a bad idea.
